77

16 week doctor appointment went excellent yesterday. Dr. Aron saw Katie and I together which is great because I didn't have to sit around waiting for my appt. Our baby's heartbeats were exactly the same =) I got my blood drawn for the AFP test. (The alphafetoprotein (AFP) test is a screening test drawn from maternal blood usually between 15-17 weeks gestation to help find babies who suffer from neural tube defects (NTD) or Down Syndrome.) Then, he gave us our prescription to get our Big Ultrasound! This is the 20 week ultrasound that usually is used to determine sex (which we will already know but this will confirm). But, more importantly, it looks and measures all the important parts of Baby. Counts the 10 little fingers, 10 little toes, looks at the four chambers of his heart, measures his head, etc. This test will pretty much show us if we will have a healthy baby on our hands. That appointment is July 31st and will also be our last ultrasound of our pregnancy (although we'll probably opt for an additonal 3D ultrasound at around 30-32 weeks).

Oh yeah... 77 hours until we find out. (I dreamt last night that we were both having girls!!!!)

P.S. About the above picture... that is a fetus at 16 weeks! Can you believe that our baby will look even more developed then that at our ultrasound on Saturday. We'll be 17 weeks 1 day.

P.P.S. About the above picture... THAT is what is floating inside of my stomach right now... amazing... I still cannot grasp it. I doubt I will until around December 18th.
